It's good to see another VMS forum has become active on the Internet (and attracting questions from new users of VMS and people who haven't heard of this OS)

Here are a few more places to find out about VMS:

1) www.openvms.compaq.com
This is the best place to find the Offical word about VMS. You will find current documentation, the FAQ, Ask the Wizard, and much more.

2) The USENET newsgroup comp.os.vms
If you can get past the negative spin of a few posters and the political noise, one can find alot of very good technical expertise.

3) The usergroup Encompass (formerly DECUS).
Web site www.encompassus.org

4) The ASCII BBS encompasserve.org. Telnet to encompasserve.org and follow the directions on your screen. The BBS runs on VMS, so it would be a good place to get the feel of VMS if you've never seem it before.

I hope the above resources are helpful to someone.

VMS is now 25 years old. Before anyone thinks that they would never use such an old OS, remember that UNIX is older.

BTW, you will notice that I write VMS instead of OpenVMS, that is because the "Open" is silent. :-)
