I´ve been trying to map a drive from NT to Open VMS, but the access is denied. I would like to Know all the necessary steps ( on a VMS machine ) to grant a access for a user to share fyles usign Map Network Drive.
I never worked with NFS. But my guess is, that you have to do something with proxies. See the NFS administration guide : http://www.openvms.compaq.com:8000/tcpip51/6526/6526pro_036.html#part5
PW5 is for me quite some time ago. What I remember is : - you need a LAN manager user on the VMS box. Or, if it is a member server in an NT domain, a user in that domain. If PW is configured for looking to both Lanman and VMS security on directories, you need hostmapping from the Lanman to the VMS user. - You create a share on the VMS box with the NET SHARE command (or with the pwrk$manager tool). I don't believe there is something like share security as in NT. - You put lanman security on the directories with the NET ACCESS command (or with the pwrk$manager tool). This should be sufficient to connect to it from a NT-box.
Hi. Everything looks fine with the connection with the connection, after created a user with the net user command and give him an access to resources with the net access command, but, the permission to the available resources is denied. Luciano
Hi All the licenses are OK. I´ve noticed that everything works fine with a different resource, e.g.:disk06:[xxx],but, the access is denied for a new net user when trying to connect to, e.g.:disk11:[xxx]. For the moment I have been facing this kind of problem only whith this resource. Can it be for a special protection for that drive(path) ,ACLs or so on ? Luciano
VMS security (like ACL's) is only important if you've configured the PW server that it should look to it as well. In this case, you can check the VMS security by login in interactive, with the user that you want to connect the share with.
You may also try what happens when you copy the lanman security from a working resource by setting the ACL's alike with $ SET ACL/LIKE=OBJECT_NAME=gooddir troubledir (the lanmanager security info is stored in those funny ACEs that start with %X81/%X80)
And what happens when you try to connect with the administrator account ?
I´ve changed de resource´s protection and everything looks fine just right now. What happened was that I´ve created a shared resource e.g.: disk11:[xxx] with the administrator account and due to the protection I couldn´t access in an ordinary account. Thanks a lot for your help. Luciano
