How do I connect my alpha box to my cable company modem? If
you know please expound step by step as I am rusty on
alpha etiquettes. [Wire connects box to router.] Thanks
AFBarghouty

Box is running openvms 7.1 and UCX 4.2 .
I have an ethernet wire from box to the cable company modem.
I read that all I had to do was to configure TCP/IP to DHCP?
If true, how do I that?
If not? What is required instead?
Thanks
AFBarghouty

To configure TCP/IP on VMS, you use the commandfile SYS$STARTUP:UCX$CONFIG.COM
$ @sys$startup:ucx$config
Option 1 is used to set IP-adress, Default Gateway,.......

I am not assigned an IP address.Does UCX 4.2 support DHCP? If so in what sub menu? I could not find it!
Thanks.

I'm not sure if UCX v4.* supports DHCP.
It was a looooooong time ago I worked with v4.*If it was supported..... you enable DHCP under "Core Environment (1)" and "Interfaces (2)".
This is what the menu looks like in v5.3
WE0 is the Ethernet device EWA0:
WE0 has not been configured
Compaq TCP/IP Services for OpenVMS Interface WE0 Configuration Menu
Configuration options:
1 - Configure interface manually
2 - Let DHCP configure interface[E] - Exit menu (Do not configure interface WE0)
Enter configuration option:
