Comment: Hello, I'm a network admin, and I've got an Alpha server running OpenVMS. I did find some .exe files but i tried to run them, and failed, my guess is that they exist from the earlier, VAX system... I want to bring them home and analyze them. can anyone tell me which headers those files use? (OpenVMS and VAX OSes) and where can I disassemble them ? (or better yet, emulate thier running, although I doubt it exist on x86...)

Reply: (edit)If it's not an ALPHA image, the message you get would tell you so. What message do you get? As Hakan stated, there are VAX emulators for PC; the most versatile is Charon-VAX - when running on HP hardware, fully supported - but that requires big, 2 processor hardware and a license. You could try to VEST them (migrate to Alpha) but that may not work when privileged code is involved (which may be the case). Willem Willem Grooters
