How can I add a HP printer to a VAX/VMS system. The printer is to be used by a application.

Hi Epi,

There are a few ways,it depends on the printer:
- if the printer has only a parallel printer port, you can use a printserver, like hp jetdirect from HP or eps1 from Lantronix (I used only these 2 ) and your VAX must be able to use ucx :-)
- if your vax doesn't use ucx (only LAT,then you should use EPS1 or EPS2 from Lantronix,or you may use a terminalserver like ds700 (DEC) or Maxserver 1800 (Xyplex) and use a converter serial-to-parallel (if your printer supports a serial connection,it's a lot easier :-)
- if your printer has a network card and your vax drives ucx ,then it's a lot easier :-)
I can help You,of course in all these situations described above, but it would be easier,if you sent me more details of your problem(that means: VMS Version ,UCX,Printer-Type).

Greetings Arnie
