Specs: Windows 7
XL 2010 Long text won't overlap cell boundry.

A 100 character text in any cell truncates at the right edge of the cell and will not display in the empty cells to the right in the same row.
Problem occurred suddenly suggesting I accidentlly mis-set a setting in this workbook.
Copied a long text from another workbook, where a 100 character text does show across adjacent vacant cells, to my problem workbook. Instantly column widths over 10 or more columns were reset narrower, and ALL truncated texts suddenly displayed in adjacent empty cells!! The original workbook, (I saved under a new name for my mods) does not truncate texts at the cell boundary.
Any ideas on what happened here would be appreciated, and especially how to reset if it occurrs again.

Try selecting the cell to the right of your text cell and hitting the Delete key.

Thanks for the reply ... Tried that. Didn't work.

Thought I found a partial answer.:
On NEW workbook: A long text is not truncated at the cell boundry.
Format this long text containing cell by
CTRL+1, Alignment, Text Alignment Horizontal, Fill:
The cell truncates the text at the cell boundary.
reformat the cell as general, the truncation vanishes.

But this does not work on my problem work book.
No solutions yet....
