Word problem! how do i get 1/2?????

hi im writing a letter in microsoft word and would like to write 3 and a half days like so (3 1/2) how do i make the 1/2 smaller so it looks like half, if u know what i mean...lol Thanks

Usually this happens automatically, well on my version but if not as with your self, highlight the 1\2 and then Format > Font and check the Superscript box.

or when you get to 3 just hit Alt+0189 to produce the ½ symbol so it looks like 3½ as desired. Go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System tools, Character map to find the corresponding keystrokes for the desired symbols.

On Menu go to Tools>AutoCorrect>"AutoCorrect as you Type" tab and check the box under "Replace as you type next to "Fractions....etc".
This will change the common fractions such as 1/4, 1/2 etc to ½ format. If you want to make uncommon fractions do the same thing you have to set them up in AutoCorrect in the same AutoCorrect dialog box.
