Word Prints Images Black

Specs: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, 2.19 GHz / 512 MB

Hello! Today, my science partner emailed me the graphs for me to print out since she doesn't have a color printer. I opened them in Word 2010 Beta (It was a Word 97-2003 file), re-sized them to fit on the page, and then printed them. The problem is, the printed images are extremely dark, as in, you can barely make out any features. It is basically a big black box where the graph is supposed to be. I can print normally from any other program, though. I tried to copy-and-paste the graphs into Paint.NET and MSPaint but they are both show the images the same way. Please help.

Thanks!

Whenever I've seen this problem it's been related to the print drivers.

Are you using drivers specific to the printer model or a "generic" driver?

When my firm switched to the Xerox Global Print Driver instead of the specific driver for each of our different models of Xerox laser printers, we started have problems with company logos, PowerPoint charts, Excel Text Boxes, etc.

I'm using printer-specific drivers. I failed to mention that it will print fine using any other program, just not Word. Also, if I take a screen shot of the picture and paste it into MSPaint or Paint.NET, it looks the same way as the printed version, completely black.

Try saving the document in another format, either as Rich Text Format (.rtf) or a Web page (.html).
Both of these formats will preserve the formatting in the Word document.

After you save the document in a different format,
close the document,
then reopen the document in Word
then save it again as a Word document (.doc).

If this works, then the file damage was removed during the conversion.

I had the following problem: with Word 2003 opened a document in which i pasted an excel chart coming form an excel 2007 .xlsx document.

the result? image came like a black box when i printed it.

How i fixed it? I saved the excel as an excel 2003 .xls, re-copied and pasted it and it worked fine!

Guess its an inter-versions bug!
