Word icon appears on desktop.

When Windows ME initially boots up, everything looks fine. A second or two later, the Word icon covers most of the other icons on the desktop. Word does not work.

Ran Norton Antivirus with current definitions. Found nothing. Ran "Search & Destroy", found nothing.

1. Word icon covers most others. Have you deleted the shelliconcache and let it rebuild?

2. Word does not work. What version and what form? Is it part of Works 2000, or Office 2000? If the latter, have you tried repair from the Office CD?
