Word /Excel 07 takes a long time to load

Hi All,
I'm having a problem where Word or Excel 2007 are taking a long time to load. It's taking about 20 to 30 seconds just to load a document. So far, I have disable add-ins, reinstalled Office, added more memory, but it's still pretty slow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are both programs causing you trouble, and how are you opening the files? Are you opening Word/Excel first, then doing a File Open?

Yes. I'm opening the files by double clicking or going to file open. I should also mention that I have run and installed Window updates.
