Word Document messed up

I recently typed a paper for college and when i got to school to print it out, i opened word to read it and the whole document was like this (ex. µó»Ì¥õkg»µ1ý~ Êî|÷—og ÑY 3p€½ enG à¸ÀSéóSBD ðN ¡âД1 9 CèéIGÇ«É iγb áÃÙi¹ - ž’ÐvwÏI OýEÚ"qlZ ýL_>¿ _ûÌüÿýñ÷ñü|ÄÅÏ|½¬oPüRB£‹Ì«(¸ÊŠƒN)
what do i do to change it back, i do not want to retype it unless i have to...Please HELP

What font type did you use, your school may not have that font type on their PC's. Stick with Ariel or Times New Roman. Can you still read it on your PC?

Is it the same version of word? or is works that come with some pcs? we had that problem with students having Works at hom eand trying to open it with Word in office XP
