Word Document Date Defaults

Specs: Windows XP
I have prepared documents in Word several months back that have dates thereon. However, when I try to print them for my hard copy files the date shown thereon defaults to the current date. This causes considerable confusion to the recipients of the documents.

How can I prevent this? Worse, it doesn't do it on all documents produced as part of the series.

When you click on the date does it turn grey?

If so, then it is a date field, not just text, and is set to always update to the current date.

if it doesn't turn grey, then I have nothing more to offer. <g>
