Hi all,
I'm toying around with an idea - wondered if anybody knew of or had implemented a solution.
Purpose:
Insert "placeholders" in a document for images to go, if they exist. Images should import at 4" wide, by default. If no image exists, it moves on.Basic setup:
Everything [Word document, pictures, etc.]would be in a dedicated folder. Pictures would be named with a "standardized" name, like "aerialphoto.jpg" and "basecountymap.jpg" so that the placeholders/anchors would always reference the same file name.Process:
This should be similar to a mail merge, but in an executable macro, I'm guessing. It would need to either 1) prompt for the directory where the files were [worst case]; or 2) automatically see the document's folder and set a "FOLDER" variable with that information [best case, less room for human error].Once the path is established, it should substitute the placeholders for FOLDER/placeholder and import the picture into the placeholder's location within the text. Optimally, it wouldn't assume a .jpg extension, but the placeholder would look more like "aerialphoto" and the macro would substitute it as: FOLDER/aerialphoto[.*] and upload .bmp, .tif, ... etc. files.
