I have a question, b/c i dont remember if my word 2003 is supposed to do this or not. say i make 2 lines of text like...
line one
line twoIf I click, say, in between the "i" and the "n" in the first line, and say click center aligned, should that realign both lines of text or just the first one? When i do that, I end up with
line one (centered)
line two (centered)But i always used to think it should be...
line one (centered)
line two (left)And just align the line i clicked it. Did I mess with my formatting somewhere?

I think it is aligning the whole paragraph.
To align line 1 highlight then center. Unless they changed the rules in 2003.

I've tried that. If I hilite more than one word, it still happens. Its weird. I tried reinstalling and repairing Office, to no avail. I keep trying to remember if my Office 03 was always like this. Thanks.

What happens if you type line 1, then center, then hit enter and then type line two.
Also, are you defniitely hitting only "Enter" and not "Shift+Enter" - because that can cause this prob too!
I'm not young enough to know everything.

no change when diable "select automatically whole word" in options?
Silly question maybe ,but there's an "enter" between the 2 lines?
