Often I will copy and paste text from a web site into a Word document. When I do this, Word will try to access the Internet. How can I stop this? Thnx.

The only way I know how is to save the Word document as a text, reopen it, and perform another copy/paste or save as word document.
When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

is word trying to access the internet while offline? Look through tool, options menus, etc. for internet settings. Or in word "help" type internet and seek for your problem

It could be the Service ClipBook that makes it try to access Internet. That service is meant to help a user to share clips with other users over the net. Try disabling it under Control Panel -> Administration Tools -> Services.
Since it is a memory hog it could be wise to disable it anyway unless you really need to share clips over the net or over a LAN.

Sorry I didn't see that you have ME. Not being familiar with ME, I don't know if it uses services. In that case my reply could only refer to WIN2K and XP, and be of no help to you.
