word 97-would you like to copy?

Word 97 installed on xphome. When you open a document by double clicking it says "file in use by owner, would you like to make a copy?" Well, the file is not in use by anyone. If you open the program first then open a document from within the program it works without an error. This happens on newly created documents as well as old documents. The documents are not read only. Whats the problem?

permissions problem on folders. Be sure of word file location, in ur user directory

Did setup /y /r off the word 97 cd, works now. Thnx.
