I have a Windows 2000 PC running Office 97 SR-2. When I do a File Open and the Browse screen opens up, all folders and files have boxes instead of names. The icons are there, but instead of a filename, only small boxes show. This problem does not happen with Explorer or any other Office programs, only with the File Open portion of Word. Tried removing Office and reinstalling from scratch, even tried a different version of Office, but problem recurrs. Also tried changing default directory, and checking for Windows and Office updates, but no luck. Any ideas?

Never mind...problem was resolved by deleting the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Common\Open Find\Microsoft Word. Key rebuilt after reboot.
