Word 2k send doc as attachment

I used to be able to select send as an attachment from any word 2k pro document, but the icon is now greyed out, I can still send the document as an e-mail, how can I fix this, because it's a mess when I send an Excel file.

Have you set Outlook as your Default mail client in your Internet Options?

Outlook express is my only mail client, I don't use Outlook as such.
Outlook Express is set as the default.
As I said I can mail from word 2k an have the content display like any normal e-mail, but I can not send as an attchment, the 'send as attachment' icon on my toolbar is greyed out?????

Once you download Service Pack 3 (I think it's 3), you lose the ability to send a document from Word. This is supposed to be a safety feature. I was actually surfing the web to see if there was a computer guru out there that figured a way around this. I truly miss this feature.
