Specs: Windows Vista

Hello everyone,

I have this strange problem with Word 2007 running on Vista. It started lately. When i doubleclick a word document from my desktop or other location, word opens but does not open the document. Than it says Microsoft Word is not working and it crushes.

I tried deleting the normal.dot file from Templates but does not help. Tried installing SP1 for Office 2007 and every single available update but no go. It looks like there is no difference whether the file is .doc or .docx it reacts the same. Reinstalling Office does not help also

If i open word and then open the document it opens it but crashes on closing. This is like second time this happens to me. First it happened few moths ago because of what i reinstalled my Vista.

Pleas help a fella out.

Have you tried running word in safe mode.

Start>Run> "winword /safe"

If it works then some 3rd party program or add-on is interrupting it. If not, im not sure what the next step would be since you have reinstalled (try another disk?), reformat and reinstall vista then office.

Have you tried running Diagnositcs?

Click the MS Logo button, upper left corner.
Click the Word Options at the bottom of window.
Click Resources
Click Diagnose

See what you get.

While your there you might also want to check for any updates that might help.

Perhaps an Office Repair?

I had this same problem. Mine seemed to happen after Windows did an automatic update. I tried everything to reinstalling office to the diagnostic to the repair. Nothing worked. I ended up doing a windows system restore and set it back to 1 day. That fixed the problem. Now i'm installing updates carefully and making sure I only install the critical ones. If anyone else has found a solution, let us know.
