Word 2007 insert wave sound issue

I've ran in to an issue with word 2007 when trying to insert a wave sound object. Seems that Vista's new sound recorder only saves to .wma files and for this reason the insert wave sound feature isn't available when running office2007 on Vista. I've even tried using the "insert voice comment" feature but again this only works when running on an xp machine. What I'm trying to accomplish is being able to insert a voice recording directly into a word document w/o having to record it outside of word and then re-embed it back into the document. This was possible on my older machine running XP and office 2007 but not on my current config w/Vista. Thanks for anybody who has a workaround. -Russ
