Comment: Sometimes, when I open and maximize Word 2003, it does not appear to be maximized. Instead, it leaves a one or two inch space at the top of the screen where I can see the desktop and other windows. Also, the application appears to run off the bottom of the screen by the same one or two inches. Has anyone had this problem?

Reply: (edit)Hi Mitch. With the Word window open, click and hold the mouse button down anywhere on the top menu bar that doesn't have any icons on it (the blue section of the bar) and drag the window up to where you want it. Let go of the mouse.
Then close Word and restart it. The window will reopen in the new position. The computer opens the window in the last position is was when you shut the program down.
So at one time the window was probably 1 or 2 inches from the top when you closed Word and that is where it reopens until you move it to a position you want it at.
Take care,
Linda

Reply: (edit)Exact same problem here... the problem is when you MAXIMIZE Word... not when it's windowed. Basically, you can't maximize it full screen. When you click on the maximize button, it maximizes... but the top is an inch or two below the top of the screen (as if it were windowed). You can not drag it as it thinks it's already maximized.

Reply: (edit)I had the same problem: when Word 2003 was maximized there was still about 1/4in of desktop above. A Detect and Repair from Help Menu fixed whatever it was.
