I am a Word pro, been using it for years and years and I can normally make the program do whatever I want with impressive results. I DO NOT understand what the heck is going on. I am trying to format a document and when I select text and click clear formatting, nothing happens. I have set up styles and apply them, nothing happens. I am so frustrated! Please help with anything except the standard help, as I could bloody well write the standard stuff. I need help from someone who deeply understands why Word (which is my favourite program in the whole world) does the things it does.

What version of Word? Are you using the Reveal Formatting option? What format is the text in that you're trying to clear?
