I use Win XP, plent of ram/hard drive space. Have WORD
2002, Office 2000. Cable internet connection. Word has
become extremely slow, hangs usually. Especially if
clicking back and forth and when closing, will usually
hang. I have all updates for word 2002. I've tried from
the support site: deleting word data registry key, rename
the normal.dot. Also used the MVP site for problems
opening word. I've deleted and reinstalled word, rain
virus scan-nothing, deleted and reinstalled Norton Antirus
(Corporate edition). Nothing has worked. One interesting thing is when I try to use the
troubleshoot utility button from the support site, nothing
happens when I click the button, takes me to visual basic
and the options I'm supposed to see don't come up. So
I've done the data registry key and rename normal.dot
fixes manually. Again, didn't fix. When I load word by winword.exe/a it pops right open and
responds normally but when I try fixes, nothing works.
Nothing seems to be in the startup folder. Thanks for any
and all help. I'm at wits end and need Word back ASAP!

I suggest you are filled up with spyware...nasty little critters that just pour into your broadband connection...
Google for "spybot", and give it a try...
Then remove ALL the *.tmp files wherever you find them...
Do a scandisk, then defrag 2-3 times...
Then see if it works any better...
good Luck
Steve

If it is what Steve said then you can download software that can delete SpyBots. If not you can try to format your hard drive and reinstall Windows Xp. If that does not work you can try partitioning it then format and reinstall. Beacause partitioning deletes every single thing.
