Word 2000, Format menu disappeared

The format menu disappeared from the menu bar in Word 2000 today. (I think it happened after I tried to open an Office 2007 document and installed compatibility software or something).
I fixed it by deleting the normal.dot file. I'm posting this in case someone else has the same problem.
