I have a small problem with my computer: I ran an installation of Office 2007 perfectly fine for a few months. After I needed Visio, I installed it. This is when I started to get an "Office 2007 is being configured" Windows Installer dialog when starting any Office app. It usually took a long time to complete.

After trying to fix this (I do not remember exactly what I did), this dialog also started to show up with *any* application that used Windows Installer. This problem magically fixed itself whenever I removed Office 2007 & Visio. When I reinstall any Office product separately, the problem continues (although the "Office 2007 is being configured" changes to whatever product I installed, if not the whole suite).

I did a clean install of Office 2007 (following some instructions in the Microsoft KB: don't have the link anymore). I checked if I had any add-ins that could cause the problem. I didn't find anything. The problem continued.

Then, I thought, why not install a copy of Office 2003 I had? To my surprise, it had the exact same problem: this time its obviously "Office 2003 is being configured", though (at this point, I didn't have an Office 2007 installation).

I've tried the Windows Installer Cleanup utility. I'm really desperate on fixing this. Any tips?
