win 95 batch file parsing

Specs: Windows XP

I have a txt file with many recurring fields that I am trying to parse.

one section of data, for example:

NET SALE 3 127.20
TAX 5.48
TAX 2 0.64
SALES+TX 133.32

I need to take the numbers next to all of the SALES+TX fields in the file (133.32 in this case), add them together, and output them to another file. There are 8-10 groups of data like the one above.

It's in Win95 because that's the only OS the software that is running on this computer will operate on (the SW polls registers in our store for data). I can't write a VBscript 'cause I can't find the windows script 5.1 SW needed on Win95 to install it.... so this "needs" to be done in a batch file.

THANKS in advance!

This forum is for Office applications such as Excel and Word, so this is not the best forum to use for questions about batch file processing.

That said, wouldn't it be easier to transfer your file to another PC and use Excel to get the results you need.

Excel has a SUMIF function that will sum all values next to a cell with specified text in it, such as 'SALES+TX'
