when printing labels in Microsoft Word, why d

Specs: Windows XP
When setting up a labels template from MS Word through Mail Merge, on screen the addresses all fit in the labels correctly, but when I print them off, they print too high on the page and do notline up with the labels on the page, so the second label down prints partially in the top label.

Have you chosen the correct label from the wizard?

Even if you have, different printers - or even different printer trays - might print the data in slightly different places even with the same label choice.

The standard practice is to print your "labels" on a regular sheet of paper and hold it up to a light behind a sheet of labels. That way you can see if the labels will print correctly without wasting label stock. Keep adjusting the margins in the label wizard and/or page setup until they line up.

Thank you for your reply. I have chosen the correct label type but I think there is a quick fix, something very obvious I am missing as I was having the same problem last year and someone fixed it by merely changing one thing, like Paper Size, and I can't for the life of me remember what it was. I have incidentally checked paper size! I think it has something to do with the difference in the UK and US setups/layouts, but not sure
