I've been having a problem getting my email in Outlook. The problem first surfaced when it would take several attempts to download all of my email. Then I wasn't getting any. Long story short, I've tried lots of things, none of them worked.

Then a few minutes ago, it occurred to me to try on another computer. Bingo! It worked. So now, given this, what should I do?

I have the sense that some variation of installing/installing Outlook might be the way to go. Could I reinstall over the current version? What are your thoughts, on how you'd go about resolving this with the least amount of disruption possible?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you using the same pst file on both computers? Have you checked the server timeouts in the email account configuration? What type of errors do you get on the "failing" computer?

Thanks Jennifer,

The .pst file on my mail computer was originally on the computer I tried. It was my old main computer. I brought it over a while back to my new main computer.

I get an error messge saying I could't retreive emails because of a lost connection, usually the result of a server or network problem (but this is inaccurate).

Here's where I am now. I turned off Zone Alarm and was able to download my email before going to bed last night. When I woke up I put it back on and tried to find out what program was blocking my receiving emails. I haven't been able to isolate that program, but now even with Zone Alarm turned off, I'm still not able to receive any emails. Odd!

Any ideas?
