I'm getting an alert box telling me that my volume shadow copy service stopped working. What does that mean?

May I suggest that you post your question in the forum that relates to whatever OS you are running?

This is not an Office related question, so you'll probably get more responses in an OS forum.

VSS is a backup tool for servers, but it's also available on Vista. DD is right though. Since this is an OS question, it would better have been answered in the proper Forum. Don't repost...

If you want to turn it off:

Might I suggest you enter Volume Shadow Copy in Vista Help. That should explain it sufficiently.
