Hi esteemed intelligent and sexy people - you seem the most knowledgeable! Okay - enough creeping. When using Outlook with and Exchange email account - can you tell me what "use cached exchange mode" does. It seems that when I uncheck the box, accounts synchronise far more quickly. Do I need the "use cached exchange mode" thing switched on?

you got me with the compliments ;)
Cached exchange mode basically means offline folders, so if you're not connected to the exchange server you can still access your mail (i.e. saves a local copy of it). That's why it takes longer, it has to syncronise with the offline copy to keep it up to date with what's on the server.
You only really need to switch it on if it is likely the server will be unavailable (for example, laptop users might want to access mail from home even without server access.)
