We use CAC card to log on our laptops and network. We user Netsign5.5 with Tumbleweed as our security software to authorize access with the CAC card. If we log on with the CAC card and then plug in any USB thumb drive they will not show up in My Computer. The only way to access them is the right click on my computer and left click on manage. Left click on Disk Management. In the window right click on the USB drive and left click on open. This will open a window and display everything on the USB drive. You can run applications or do anything from this window. In the address space there is nothing shown not even a drive letter or a path.

Try assigning the USB drive with a letter. In Disk Management - go to lower right pane, right click on the item you think is your USB drive (will show up as a disk drive), the choose Change Drive Letter and paths.
Note to choose an unused letter if you're logging into a network with drive mapping to servers.
