Hi,

An Excel file was modified (data was deleted) and then saved.
How can you recover the data that was deleted?
Please tell me there's a way!
The modified file has a lot of formulas, but even though the data was deleted (not the formulas), the size of the file is still around 8 Mb, which gives me hope that the data is hidden somewhere.

I tried selecting all the cells -> right-clicking -> format -> protection -> unhiding.. but the cells were not Hidden anyway, only locked.

Also tried several File Recovery programs, and cannot find any temp file.

Any help much appreciated!

First, you should be aware that putting "Urgent!!" in the subject line isn't going to make anyone drop what they are doing and answer your question. In fact, you might even turn some folks away by implying that your question is more important than any other.

That said, unless you have a backup of the original file, you are probably out of luck.

While Excel does create a temp file when saving files, in most cases that temp file is deleted when the Save is complete.
