Friend has Office XP installed. When doing anything in Word as soon as space or return are pressed the whole page becomes selected/highlighted & text therefore becomes unreadable. Only recently started happening. Have checked all options & nothing unusual stands out. No problem with Excel or OpenOffice. Have swapped mouse & keyboard to no effect. Any ideas anyone?

In outline view, clicking once to the left of a paragraph selects the entire paragraph instead of a single line.

Don't know if this is what's happening, but worth a shot.

Thanks for reply. No, nothing to do with 'usual' Word methods - I've been using MSWord since v6 so I've got used to its quirks - this is a new one on me & I'm pretty sure it's hardware related.

It'll be interesting to find out what happend.

Nothing like "lazy" thumb or something hitting a spacebar or key while your highlighting?

Problem solved but not too sure why. While I was generally tidying up system I was updating drivers etc. The video was set to a generic driver so I rooted around & found the correct one & this seems to have cured it, but no idea why it would have reverted to a basic driver in the 1st place or why that would have affected Word.

How utterly strange.

Thanks for the update though.
