Hi All,

Can someone help me ouit it this??

Objective:
Import of data from .txt format to excel.

Problem:
I have tried importing the text file in-to excel but, each line of the text file are placed on the same row of the worksheet.

I've tried transpose option also but of no use.. as one can only transpose rows into columns in one row.. whereas the desired format should have transposed 5-6 lines into one row (Diferent Colunms), next 5-6 lines to the next row.. and so on for some 5,000 lines.

I've tried delimiters also.. not much of use..

Kindly suggest if this is possible.... else key-in the data is the only solution i can think.

Regards
Somesh

"the desired format should have transposed 5-6 lines into one row"

Lines meaning? Such as the above quotation is in two lines?

I know of no way to break a line during the import.

Excel can only see it in it's physical layout. Row for row or line for line. There is no way to tell it to continue the row by grabbing x more lines of text.

Can you provide a sample of the text (two rows or lines as you have called them)? Is it all text as in a written paragraph or a story?

Normally it is some type of data with pre-defined columns containing relative data to those columns and the trick is in getting it all to align.

I could go on but I can only guess as to the type of data you are working with.
