So i need to join the workgroup of somehow gain access to the file another way. Any ideas as how to open the file. I would like to alter the tables to suit my needs.

Which version of Ms Access?

Also, if you need to join the workgroup (a little access module that controls who can open, modify, etc) a database, be sure to do this:

Locate a file named something like "wrkgadm.exe" which should be in your system directory under windows....

run, open a mdw file which contain the group policies and join...make sure your are set as an administrator or power user to change the database....

Hope it helpos....BTW, IT APPLIES TO ACCESS97,2000, I am not sure the new access uses this same tool....
