Hello
I was wondering if there is a way to transfer my quickbook files and program to another computer. I just bought a new computer, and I want to transfer quickbooks to it.. I would like it to be like the exact way it was in the other PC. The computer with the quickbook is running on Windows ME, and the new one is running on Windows XP
Help Please,

Not positive, but I believe when quickbook backs up your files, it may also be backing up your settings. You can at least transfer your files from the backup and put PC's side by side to get settings the same.
When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

Excellant program, it's only weakness is depreciation, but that's an easy one to get around.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\, scroll down until you find the name you use for the company files (Transportaion Data Systems, in my case). Copy and paste these files to disk or CD, whichever is appropriate for the size of the files.
After installing QBP on the new machine, copy and paste the files from your disk to the same place on the new machine. When you open them, they will be exactly the way they were on the old system, those settings are part of the data files.
When you are looking at the "old" machine, if you see a file called "companyname".QBB? BAD IDEA! You are doing your backups to the same place as the original data. Always backup to disk or a second HD.
