I have a timesheeet with two alternating 'in' and 'out' columns and one total column. My formula is =HOUR(B16)-HOUR(C16)+(HOUR(D16)-HOUR(E16)). To get rid of the negative I formatted the total column for negative numbers. I don't mind the total being red. It is not totaling correctly. The total should be 5 not 7. Any help is appreciated. IN OUT IN OUT HOURS 7:00 10:00 12:00 2:00 7.00 I am a novice.
I think it may be the HOUR function that is messing things up. Try it without the HOUR function and format the columns as hour:min. I prefer using 24 hour time when doing time math but it should work with AM/PM time. Also if you are totaling be aware that if you exceed 24 hours you need to custom format the total cell.
