Hi Everyone,
I started using the p/p vehicle called bit torrent, I have dsl, but the speed of bt, usually, is slower than 56k dial-up. Is this normal, very rarely does it exceed the speed of the 56k modem.
Thanking you in advance for your input and if you have any suggestions as to how I can increase the d/l speed, please let me know,
cordially,
frank

Frank,

You are welcome.

If you are still monitoring this post I have a question for you too.

I don't use BitTorrent but there have been a few questions posted on these boards about it so I wound up looking at the BitTorrent pages to understand it better.

From what I have seen, it appears, that the only things that are available for download are music videos of concerts.

Is there more to it than just that?

Regards,
Bryan

Hi Bryan,
There is a slew of programs, music and anything you can think of, can be found on the bit network. It looks like another good source of information and programs. I am just feeling my way around at this point and am still in the novice category. I installed a file called an983.sys in the modem helper folder as well as the windows system32 folder, so far, I have not seen any improvement in d/l speed. The file comes with two other techno-jargon files which I left in the modem helper folder. The net further amazes me with the tons of information available to us at our fingertips. I have learned one lesson though, not to play doctor with any ailment you have diagnosed via the information on the net, it could kill you.
Thank you again for you help, Bryan,
frank
