A few years ago, on a Win98 machine I had text to speech running, I could highlight text in word and the voice would read it back to me. I have searched allthrough office help and office online help and all it tells me about is speech recognition. Is text to speech available in office 2003 under win xp pro? Thanks, Bradshaw
A side question. does speech recognition work well enough to make it usefull? tnx

I use FreeVoice but the voices are a little robotic. I find it useful when I want to have it read back something to me to make sure it sounds Ok.
But, for only $295 US you can get the ATT Natural voices. They are quite good but still a little robotic (not worth $300). You can hear the samples DEMO on the following webpage http://www.naturalvoices.com/demos/.
