Hi Guys,
For a reason unknown "symbol" option disappeared from "insert menu" of my MSword processor 2003, and desperately needs it use.
Can anyone please help me on how to put it back in place?
Thanks in Anvance

See http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customiza... You have
diagnosed this pretty well; here's exactly what you did:1. You wanted to insert an em dash. The keyboard shortcut for that is
Alt+Ctrl+Num- (that is, the minus key on the numeric keypad).2. Instead, you pressed Alt+Ctrl+Hyphen, which is the shortcut for
ToolsCustomizeRemoveMenuShortcut.3. You didn't notice that the mouse pointer had changed to a big minus sign,
but you didn't get an em dash and thought nothing had happened (in your case
you did notice this but didn't know what it meant)4. So you thought you'd insert the em dash from the Symbol dialog and
clicked on Symbol on the Insert menu.5. What you didn't realize is that the function of
ToolsCustomizeRemoveMenuShortcut is to remove any menu item you click on.
This is handy for removing unneeded files from the Work menu or deleted
files from the MRU list at the bottom of the file menu (or any other
unwanted menu item) but disastrous if you're trying to actually *use* a menu
command. If this ever happens to you again, be aware that you can dismiss the command
with ESC.

Thanks for the response, but how do i get it back running in it rightful place?
Hence, the web site inserted to the response was unreachable.
Please help further if you can.

Solved: This is how, incase anyone else has the same problem>>>
1. On the Tools menu, choose Customize
2. Click the Commands tab at the top of the dialog box
3. Pull down the Save In list and select normal.dot if not already selected..
4. In the Categories list, choose All
5. In the Commands list, scroll down to the missing command and drag it with the mouse out of the list and up to the desired menu, pausing when you get there to let the menu drop down, then release the command at the position where you want it to appear on the menu
5. Click the Close button, hold the Shift key down and select File + Save All.
