When the OS loads whole of Office also starts up, this i thing will increase bootup time...Is there any way to start MS word only..i use MS office 2000. Thanks S

Yes remove the links to office in the startup folder, also delete the faststart toolbar (if it is present)
Regardless of the above when windows boots a lot of the office stuff is loaded anyway, this is why if you use Open Office it takes an age to open up compared to ms office

There's no reason for Office to run automatically on startup. Not only does it slow down boot time, bit it runs constantly in the background using system resources.
I use "StartUp Cop" (freeware) to limit unwanted programs from running automatically.
Then whenever I wish to use an Office application, I simply open it through the Start Menu.
