Can anyone recommend a good program to control the computer through speech? I do not want the computer to type for me, I just want to control it by running programs, keyboard commands, etc. I think this will save me a lot of time at work, does anyone have suggestions?

Matt,
Not to say that there are no suitable applications that will fit your needs but of those that I have tried I found them to be very slow and inaccurate.

The fastest methods are to learn the keyboard commands as they are extremely fast.
I do not like having to switch between the keyboard and the mouse so if I find that I am performing a repedative task then I find the keyboard shortcut for it and then I have learned that one too.
You can try the Shareware version of Speak & Mail and if you like it then $30. It claims to do what you want. I tried an earlier version a few years ago and still have it but never use it.

I use Scansoft's Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It's easy, it's fast and it's accurate. Best of all, you can have several users in different languages.
