Sometimes Excel does not sort alphabetically

June 25, 2012 at 00:06:18
Specs: Windows 7
On a sheet I have three columns of words.
When I want to sort by alphabetical order (the leading is column A), the first row blink rapidly and nothing change.
Analyse 240 Some thoughts… 50/50
A mi way 2.98 Proverbs, Beautiful photos
Alfred 5.21 Indians paintings.
Alps 2.02 Scientific finding
Anthony 1.77 50/50

The first row < Analyse > <240> & <some thoughts… 50/50> will not change alphabetical position and move to where it should. (between Alps and Anthony).
It happened other times too, with different words, but if I erase the first row and re-type it… Bingo! It will work!
Why is that?
(I am using Window 7 and Word 2007).

If Excel is considering the first the Row as a Header Row, it will not sort it.

When you use Data...Sort you have the option of telling Excel whether or not the first Row is a Header Row.
