Dear All,

I have the solution for the Winmail.dat attachemtn

When you send emails, you are using Rich Text Format.
Change this to Plain text.
If you send with Rich text Format ON and the recipient cannot read them, the attachment is renamed as WINMAIL.DAT

Please read

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q138/0/53.ASP&NoWebContent=1

To decode the winmail.dat, you need a program called "WMDecode". This will extract the attachment for you.
You can find this from the following link.

http://www.biblet.freeserve.co.uk/Download/WMDecode.zip

I hope this helps

Phyto

Thanks for the info, but why would the recipient need to view the contents of the winmail.dat file? It's really only useful for Exchange users since it contains header information of the originating email.

Not always.

If you send an Document attached to a mail, it can sometimes convert the .doc to winmail.dat.
It has always been percieved as just header info, but on occasion it is a converted document.
