I have a friend who is going overseas and was asking me if he bought legitimate Microsoft software if it would be fully compatible with the software we use in Australia. (is it customised for each country). Would he still get support?

What type of Microsoft Software? OS? Or other? Is he taking a computer he already has loaded with Windows?

No. It is software like Office Project etc.
He is on holidays and is only buying the software overseas and then returning here.
