I am using a small macro utility called SMACK (v 1.06)
When I try to run this program, or move around in it, it brings up a windows message box that says: "Please wait while Windows configures Serial Talk."
I have to cancel off these message boxes 6 to 8 times before the program loads and runs correctly.
I am using a legitimate registered (to me) version but the trial program also did it. I thought that by buying it that it wouldn't do it!
I have had no response from the makers of the program.
It may be something to do with msi install routines but I do not have this behaviour when installing or running other programs.
Any ideas?

What happens if you let the installation complete?

What a shame
To have to beg you to see
We’re not all the same
What a shame" - Shinedown

Once the initial install completed, I closed the program. That's when the Windows messages starting appearing and I cancelled them all off too.
Then, when I launched the program for the second time, they reappeared, as they do now everytime I launch the program. This has become a routine - and a big nuisance.

Problem solved. It seems there WAS another program called Serial Talk on my system (RS232 commands). I found it in Uninstall Programs and managed to get rid of it. I've never used Serial Talk, in fact I did not know it was even on my machine.
Why SMACK tried to launch it is an even bigger mystery, but it's gone now and SMACK is no longer naughty.
