I have an excel file, which opens very slow, it takes around 15 minutes to open. I have already deleted all the temp or emf files. No virus is there in the PC. I have also tried Advance Excel Repair Tool Full version to repair the file. After repair all formts are lost and formuli is also not there after repair.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

If you are using Norton Antivirus, turn off the Office scanning component under the Miscellaneous menu.

i had tried every sort of tricks of this type. I was able to fix the problem. Now again this file is going to creat a problem as its size is increasing at an alarming speed. No additional data is fed in this file, only I change values for the previous days. One thing have also been noticed. In some cells I am facing a problem when I put Text "Rana" in a cell it automatically changes to "Rona" and if I add "Deptt" it changes to "Ambition". Please help to sort out.

Thanks Larry for your response.

Well, that's an interesting one.

On the file size thing, I would copy the data to a new sheet and name it something else and watch the file size and see if it changes. If it does you could have some sort of macro virus.

On the data thing, you could be using a customized dictionary and it's automatically changing the input.

If push comes to shove, I would uninstall Excel or Office (not just a repair) and try again.
