I need to copy a formula down an entire colum. The first value of the formula I need to change with the rows but the second I need constant. How do I assign a cell to remain constant in a formula when I copy?
example: =G6/H14 The G must change with each new row, but I must always have H14 in the denominator.

Hi,
In the formula you need to use the $ sign in the formula for the fixed cell references. Use the $ sign before each row and column reference.
A cell refernce multiplying by a fixed cell reference in cell A1 would be $A41.
Look at the help pages for fixed cell reference.

Sorry typo
A cell refernce multiplying by a fixed cell reference in cell A1 would be $A$1.

Let's say that you entered the formula into I2 so:
I2=G2/$H$14
If you were to drag it down the column then
In I3 you would see:
I3=G3/$H$14If you were to drag the formula to the right from I3 to J3 then it would appear as:
J3=H3/$H$14If you wanted the G to remain then use
J3=$G3/$H$14Now, if, when you enter your formula in, let's say, I2 you could enter the equal sign/symbol and then click on G2...
Now hit the F4 button to toggle through the different ways of entering the constants for G2 as:
$G$2, G$2, $G2 or G2
Then add your divided by symbol and click on H14 and then hit the F4 again until you see $H$14 as desired. In your original request dragging the formula down Column G would not require any of the G2 portion to remain as a constant. Only the $H$14.
Confused, I hope not,
Bryan
