Running Word 2003 (SP2) under XP-SP2, the Send to option behaves oddly: the list displayed under "File – Sent to" is different than the one located in Document and Settings - < User Name > - SendTo. The one I want to use is the latter.
I completely reinstalled Word 2003 from scratch and ended up with the same problem. On another computer, where the environment is the same, everything works fine.
Is there a registry option I could change?

I am also running Ofice 2003 SP2 under XP (Home) SP2.
The Send To under the File menu in Word is different from the Document and Settings - < User Name > - SendTo and both are different from the "Right Click - Send To" list for a file/folder.
As far as I know, the Send To list is "context specific" and will be different depending on where it is used.
e.g. All the Send To items in Word (on my machine) are options related to what you might want to do with a Word doc, such as send it to a mail recipient for review. If I Right Clicked on the file itself in Windows, I could send it to a CD or a USB drive.

The problem is, under Word, the Send To list does not contain the option of sending an e-mail with the active Word document as attachment.

Well, that's a bit more specific! :-)
Try this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834...Or DAGS on something like:
send to email recipient missing Word 2003
You'll find lots of hits. Maybe one of those situations matches yours.Good luck!

The non-appearance of the "Send to Mail Recipient as an attachment" is only part of the problem. The items in the SendTo list located under Documents and Settings (and which contains the Send to Recipient option), etc. are totally different than the ones listed in the Word 2003 (SP2) Send To option displayed under Files.
Going through the possible fixes suggested in the Microsoft page you referred me to did not solve the problem. The Registry items listed in the Page are all present in my registry.
When I tried the Word Options - Customize... to force the "Mail to Recipient" item into the Files menu, it displayed properly. After a shutdown and restart of Word (including a Windows reboot), the "Mail to Recipient" item had disappeared from the Word SendTo list where I had placed it.
We're back to the problem of the link between Word and the appropriate SendTo list. Where could I check the pointer in the Registry? Is there something wrong with Normal.dot?

I did go and search for a similar problem as mine on the Web before posting here. There were piles of hits but mostly related to the absence of the Mail to Recipient item. My case is different and more fundamental because there is no relationship at all between the two lists mentioned above. So it appears to be a pointer problem.

I don't know if this will help because obviously not of my other suggestions have, but I'm just trying to make sure you are looking in the right places.
You said: "The items in the SendTo list located under Documents and Settings...are totally different than the ones listed in the Word 2003 (SP2) Send To option displayed under Files."
With that in mind, here are the items in my Docs & Settings folder:
Compressed (zipped) Folder
Desktop (create shortcut)
Mail Recipient
Picture Folder on team
My Documents
OUTLOOK.EXEAnd here are the items under File in Word 2003:
Mail Recipient
Mail Recipient (for Review)...
Mail Recipient (as Attachment)
Routing Recipient...
Exchange Folder...
Online Meeting Participant (greyed out)
Recipient using a Fax Modem
Recipient using Internet Fax Service
Microsoft Office PowerPointI only bring this up because other than Mail Recipient, "The items in the SendTo list located under Documents and Settings...are totally different than the ones listed in the Word 2003 (SP2) Send To option displayed under Files." Maybe there isn't a missing pointer to the Doc & Settings list because they are supposed to be different. I don't know, I'm just saying that my lists don't match either.
Note: The lists above are from an XP-Pro machine running Word 2003 SP3 (my work system), but there is also a big difference between the lists on my home machine running XP-Home SP2 and Word 2003. My lists at home may not be the exact duplicates of the lists above, but the point is that on both machines the lists under Docs & Settings are very different than what is found in Word.
Once again, I hope that helps in some small way.
