can anyone recommend a good scan to pdf program where i can scan a document directly to pdf without having to convert. a free program would be great and is preferred but will pay for a shareware or full program if necessary. thanks in advance.

Your scanner software should have that option. What scanner are you using?

Get Adobe Acrobat Standard Edition, you can create pdfs directly from the scanner as long as you have the proper scanner drivers installed.
